Conservation & Restoration
The frame was cleaned with tri-ammonium citrate to remove surface dirt. Following this the crown was removed from the frame so that it could be repositioned and readhered with fish glue. Areas of loss were created in modelling wax, moulded in Steramould and cast in composition. These areas were then coverered in a layer of yellow bole, water gilded and distressed.

This oil gilded frame, was blackened with soot and dirt deposits. It was thoroughly cleaned with tri-ammonium citrate. Areas of loss were then layered with gesso, colour matched with yellow bole, oil gilded and distressed to match the original appearance.
